READ MOREOriginal Symons ScreenerStarted by Ory and Ed Symons in 1933 the Symons Brothers Screen Company designed & developed many types of screening equipment. The company has been in screen manufacturing for over 70 years, building high quality equipment for the asphalt, aggregate, mining & industrial markets.
READ MORESMICO is the leader in custom screening technology. In today’s market, there is not a single other major screener manufacturer willing to customize their machines to the level that SMICO does for its clients. Over the last 70 years SMICO has made a name for itself as being customer focused while being obsessed with quality and today SMICO continues to offer the highest level of support and response to our client’s needs while retaining our signature, American-Made quality.
SEE ALL SMICO PRODUCTSIn 1999 Symons was purchased by XMS Equipment Company and relocated to Tempe, Arizona. Symons was moved one more time in 2009 to its current home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after being purchased by SMICO Manufacturing. SMICO acquired Symons Screens to add a well-known aggregate presence to its already full line of vibratory screeners, feeders and conveyors. SMICO currently manufacturers new parts and screens for Symons Screens and can repair and support all Symons Screens and some Symons designed Nordberg Screens.
SEE ALL SYMONS PRODUCTSIncorporated June, 1995, we invented a unique dry ingredient mixing rotor, and applied for patents which were granted in May, 1998. Other patents for dryer configuration and controlled orifice air purged seal were granted later.
The advantage of the rotor was accurate mixing to Cv. 5% in one minute or less, using slow speed and one rotor. Other methods of achieving these results were dual rotor or high speed, so it would also be a lower investment.
In 1996 we made our first vacuum infusion machines. Also in 1996 we invented our ShearmakerTM that added very aggressive shear inside the mixer with the encouragement of a cement producer that wanted something better than was on the market, that would repeatedly perform in the same unit of time, and less maintenance.
The fixed time and performance made the mixer ideal for systems that could be smaller and lowest cost per ton investment. That set the stage for the future of the business. Half the business has been in the cement industry developing color in masonry cement and tile grouts, and mixing thinsets and other mortars.
The no shear mixing is used in coffee beans, pet, aquaculture, dairy, horse feeds. The principle of mixing uses high particle movement making it ideal for liquid additions, which is also part of the feed manufacturing process.
In 2015 A & J Mixing International Inc. sold assets to A & J Mixing Co., a division of SMICO.
